Working in partnership

All UNA Exchange activities, whether in Wales or overseas, are organised in partnership with community organisations.  Working in partnership is vital to ensure that projects are needed and wanted by communities.

We work with non-profit organisations such as community groups, schools, Local Authorities and other Non Governmental Organisation.

Our partners in Wales

Our projects in Wales are also arranged in partnership with local organisations. We create projects with country parks, play schemes, campaign groups, schools, councils, community centres – and many others!

We support Welsh organisations to bring international volunteers to their projects once they have decided that this will benefit their work.

Welsh / UK networks

UNA Exchange is an active member of Welsh / UK networks and organisations.

  • We are a member of the Council for Wales of Voluntary Youth Services (CWVYS)
  • We are a member of Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA)
  • We are a member of the GwirVol Partnership
  • We are part of the Millennium Volunteers programme and our volunteers can apply for this award
  • We are a member of Cyfanfyd (the Welsh Development Education Association)
  • We are a constituent member of the Welsh Centre for International Affairs (WCIA),
  • We are a member of VINE UK, a network of UK organisations that promote not-for-profit international volunteering

Partnerships across the World

UNA Exchange works in partnership with voluntary organisations throughout the world.  We have a two way exchange of volunteers with our international partners – our partners send volunteers to our project in Wales, while we send volunteers from the UK to projects run by our partners.  This exchange ensures that we are able to offer international volunteering opportunities to young people from the communities in which we work in Wales.

All the volunteer exchanges with partners are coordinated by two international networks -  the Alliance of European Voluntary Service organisations, and the Co-ordinating Committee of International Voluntary Service (CCIVS, part of UNESCO).
