Vision and Values

Our vision

In an era of increasing interdependence, global citizenship is vital in building sustainable futures for Wales and the world.

We want all communities in Wales to have opportunities for meaningful contact with people and ideas from other countries and cultures, through which they can become more active global citizens.

How are we achieving this?
  • We are a dynamic organisation, supporting young people to join meaningful volunteering activities in Wales and over 60 countries worldwide. 
  • These projects bring young people together and use volunteering as a vehicle for positive exchange between communities in Wales and people from other countries.
  • We coordinate a programme of projects in Wales, where international volunteers support local organisations make a positive change in their communities and promote global citizenship and learning.
  • We support the participation of young people from Wales and the rest of the UK in international volunteering through long-established and trusted partnerships.

Our values

International volunteering is a powerful force for positive change in the world
  • We believe international volunteering enables young people to make a positive difference in local communities.  Working in partnership ensures all volunteering activities are identified and managed by local communities, and that projects are needed, meaningful, and sustainable.

International volunteering enables people to learn new skills, gain confidence and brings new perspectives on the world. 
  • We believe international volunteering can enable people to gain a deeper understanding of the world through working and living together. 
  • Our projects bring people from different countries and social backgrounds together, leading to an awareness and appreciation of differences and similarities between cultures. 
  • Projects equip (young) people with the confidence, skills, and knowledge to make more informed choices and decisions about the way they live their lives.

International volunteering is for everyone, regardless of background
  • We are working with our partners to ensure international volunteering opportunities are accessible to people from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Our volunteers come from all walks of life and we believe that everyone has something to offer and something to gain, whether unemployed, studying, or working.
  • Through our supported volunteer programme, we help overcome people’s barriers to international volunteering.
