When and How Long
You can volunteer with UNA Exchange somewhere in the world from as little as two days to as long as one year. What you choose will depend on your current situation – if you have holiday time from work, a two-week group project is probably the most suitable; for people taking gap years then several two-week projects, or an individual placement for longer may be what you are looking for. You can join more than one project, if the dates fit together and you allow the appropriate travelling time in between.Weekend Group Projects take place in Wales between January and June. They usually last from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon.
Volunteering in Wales offers opportunities for anything from two week group projects to three month projects co-ordinating teams of international volunteers working in the environment.
Volunteering Overseas comes in many different lengths and formats:
- The greatest number of projects on offer are two/three-week Group Projects – they exist in all the countries where we have partnerships (see Quick Links/Destinations).
- Medium-Term Placements last from between one and four months. Some are individual placements, while others bring together a small group of volunteers.
- Long-Term Placements last from between four months and one year and, as with the Medium-Term Projects, can be individual or group projects.
- European Voluntary Service (EVS) projects provide opportunities (for those aged 18-30) to volunteer for anything from two months to one year.
