Why volunteer with UNA Exchange?
Worthwhile projects with local organisations
We create international volunteering opportunities that bring people from different cultures together. All our projects are designed with local organisations. These organisations know how volunteers like you can make a real difference in their communities.
Not for profit
UNA Exchange is a registered charity and we do not work for financial profit. We believe in low-cost volunteering. Where you need to pay a fee to volunteer, this is used to support our work.
Forty years experience
UNA Exchange was founded in 1973. We have been sending volunteers on projects overseas and hosting them in Wales for almost forty years. Every year we send around 250 volunteers on international projects and host about 300 in Wales.
Supportive and motivated staff
We have seven full-time members of staff who are passionate about international volunteering. Many of our staff have participated in UNA Exchange projects as volunteers. We are able to provide advice and support at all stages of your volunteering.
Partners across the world
UNA Exchange sends volunteers to around 70 countries. In each country we work with a partner organisation that shares our aims and values. These organisations support you when you are volunteering overseas.
Relevant training and preparation
We offer training to all volunteers to help you prepare and make the most of your experience. We can also put you in touch with people who have already volunteered on similar projects.
A world of volunteering
Volunteering with UNA Exchange doesn’t have to end when your project abroad finishes. We offer many opportunities to keep involved and meet other volunteers when you return. You could volunteer for a weekend project in Wales, lead a project, support new volunteers, help tell other people about international volunteering, become a trainer...
